Bring Me The Maid to Resume in 2014 Silver Shadow Stakes

August 11th, 2014

A notable performer in major two-year-old events through the 2014 Autumn Racing Carnival, Bring Me The Maid is on track for a likely return to racing in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 23rd after finishing 2nd in a strong Hawkesbury barrier trial on Monday morning.

Failing to finish outside the places over four starts through her maiden racing preparation in autumn, Bring Me The Maid stamped her claims as one to watch through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival when running on to finish an impressive third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) last time out on April 5th.

Jumping from the gates well in Monday’s trial, Bring Me The Maid settled within the pack, gradually working her way forward in the final straight to finish second to Nostradamus.

Partnering the Sebring filly for the first time in the Hawkesbury trial, veteran jockey Glyn Schofield was impressed with Bring Me The Maid’s performance and is expecting a standout campaign for the three-year-old through spring.

“She has to make the progression from a two-year-old to a three-year-old and she certainly feels like she’s done that,” Schofield told TVN.

“She trialled really well, she hit the line with a lot of gusto. If you didn’t know who she was you’d certainly say she’s a good horse.”

Debuting with an impressive victory in the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m) on March 1st, Bring Me The Maid was unable to completely overcome a poor jump when third in the Listed St Albans Stakes (1200m) on March 14th, but responded in the best way possible when charging home to win the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) just one week prior to the Golden Slipper.

Likely to target the featured Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 11th, Bring Me The Maid was initially considered for a tilt at the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 13th, however is unlikely to make an appearance.
