Zelady’s Night Out Ready for 2016 Silver Shadow Stakes

August 16th, 2016

Queensland trainer Tony Gollan is confident that Zelady’s Night Out has the class to be right in the finish, when the talented filly lines up for the 2016 Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Zelady’s Night Out more than stamped herself as a filly to follow upon debuting to racing in November last year, but was returned to the paddock after failing to fire or beat a single runner home in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 5th.

Gollan told AAP that the Myboycharlie filly has taken plenty of benefit and condition from her time away from racing and he is confident that she is poised for a smart first-up performance in the 2016 Silver Shadow Stakes on Saturday.

“Things didn’t go right late in her campaign as a two-year-old but she has had a good break and I am expecting her to race well,” Gollan said.

Purchased for only $65,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Zelady’s Night out has posted an impressive three wins through her five career starts so far, on her way to more than $200,000 in prize money.

Jumping from the gates well in the 4-Game Flexi Membership Handicap (1050m) on debut at Doomben on November 14th, jockey Jim Byrne allowed the filly to stride forward and take a position on pace.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, Zelady’s Night Out immediately responded when asked for an extra effort; pulling clear and savaging the line for a near-five length triumph.

Making a successful transition to black type racing second-up on December 12th, the filly out of Zelady again comfortably pulled clear in the final straight to win the Listed Calaway Gal Plate (1050m) to find the line two-and-a-half lengths in the green, and repeated the dose in the Group 3 McLachlan Stakes (1200m) third-up on Boxing Day.

Drawn awkwardly in barrier 9 for her run in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic (1200m) on January 9th, Zelady’s Night Out failed to make anything of an impact and finished ninth, in what was her only other start prior to the Reisling Stakes.

The 2016 Silver Shadow Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
